AFP field-trials in Africa and India:
AFP begins an 18 month Zeba evaluation with Mercy Corps in Zimbabwe. Multiple crops will be tested on 10 demonstration farms, beginning Summer 2010.
Ghansu Water Conservancy Department in China begins field trials with corn and grains, beginning Spring 2010.
Vigyan Ashram grew market grade cabbage with Zeba and 80-90% less water than typically used for small farmers growing cabbage in India. Harvest measurements continue.
Vigyan Ashram is harvesting cabbage planted in an open field trial in November -- evaluating Zeba using 3 types of fertilizer, all watered with 80-90% less water than typical for cabbage grown by small farmers in India. They started harvesting and taking observations on WEIGHT/VOLUME /SPECIFIC GRAVITY of each fruit - They continue measuring harvest data.

Vigyan Ashram in India, evaluating Zeba growing green pepper, showed 33% more buds with 33% less water. “The Zeba plot was watered once a week, while the plot without Zeba was watered once in 4 days. Plants in the Zeba plot are showed 3 buds on average, while plants in the non-Zeba plot showed 2 buds on average.
'Stafff of Hope’ reported a 75% increase with Zeba in a small community garden in Kimanda, Kenya, working with Maasai to develop vegetable farming. The big rains have not come to the region for 3 years and draught is killing livestock, the traditional livelihood for the Maasai people. They grew spinach, soybeans and kale and reported “the section of the garden that had Zeba produced on average 84Kg per row. The section without Zeba produced only 48Kg per row.” Water hauled from the river, applied with drip irrigation may have favored the Zeba section…in any case, a very nice result!

The Smallholders Foundation farmers havested a short season in July '09, of melon, maize and pumpkin in Owerri, Nigeria. They reported "the harvest has been good and most farmers sounded optimistic that the root and tuber crop harvest will also be awesome."

CIP, the International Potato Center harvested in April a small potato evaluation in rain fed potato farming in Huancayo, an inland valley at 12,200 feet in the Andes, about 120 miles east of Lima, Peru. The wet growing season showed benefits consistent with commercial applications, with 10% increase in commercial grade potatoes, over the control.

The Smallholders Foundation farmers reported "a bountiful harvest" in April '09, of yams and cassavas in rural areas outside Owerri, in Imo State, about 70 miles inland in the south of Nigeria.
